1. One book that changed your life? Keep the list short, excluding the Bible: The Gist of Romans by K.C. Moser; and Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger by Ron Sider. 2. One book that you’ve read more than once: Finally Comes the Poet by Walter Brueggemann and The Suffering of God by Terence Frietheim.
3. One book you’d want on a desert island: This is tough but might take one of the following, The Imitation of Christ by Thomas a’Kempis, Surprised by Joy by C.S. Lewis or Cur Deus Homo by Anselm
4. One book that made you laugh: All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot
5. One book that made you cry: Night by Elie Wiesel and The Wind that Destroys and Heals by another professor of mine, Stephen Broyles
6. One book you wish had been written: The Opinions and Views of Jesus on Instrumental Music and Patternism
7. One book you wish had never been written: Why I Am a Member of the Church of Christ by Leroy Brownlow.
8. One book you’re currently reading: A Home for the Homeless: A Sociological Exegesis of 1 Peter by John H. Eliott and Mapping and Naming the Moon: A History of Lunar Cartography and Nomenclature by Ewen A. Whitaker.
9. One book you’ve been meaning to read: Eyes Wide Open: Looking for GOD in Poplar Culture by William D. Romanowski and Whos Afraid of Postmodernism?: Taking Derrida, Loytard, and Foucault to Church by James K. A. Smith

I just knew you couldn’t keep it to one book per question. 🙂
When Jim tagged me, the Broyles book also made my number five. I almost put the same thing you did on #7. If I wrote a book by the same title, the reasoning would be much different and less sectarian.
I always appreciate your “book reviews.” I consider you one of my walking bibliographies, as is evident from the many times I’ve called you for a reference.

Books that changed my life? I will put down two books that truly had a profound change on the way I think and act. Actually changed me.

I guess I should have put Kingdom Come as the most influential book I have read, that would have got some play.

Bobby, if someone had sent me your list without your name and asked me to whom it belonged, I would have said BOBBY VALENTINE. Nobody has a reading list like yours. I lvoe it. You are such a wonderful resource to so many people. I suggest, though, that you pick up something light and happy before you blow a brain sprocket. You know I’m ribbing you!

K.C. Moser’s book was great. I recall reading the book and then him lecture (a recording) to a group of college students about the same subject.

I was tagged a few days ago. True to my nature (I was called the “Piano Man” when I was young and the reference wasn’t due to any musical prowess on my part but rather the speed at which I generated with my legs.) I’m a bit slow but I’ll try to catch up on my blog.

Hey Bobby. I just moved into my first apartment and got the internet set up. Thats why I haven’t been on here. Yeah MS State is getting ready for Bama but they have S. Carolina to worry about first. College Gameday is going to be on campous with Lee Corso for the SC game Thurday night August 31. It should be fun. I will have to go back and catch up on your blog.

1. One book that changed your life? Keep the list short, excluding the Bible:
I am not sure under this definition there is any one book other than the Bible that changed my life. But I did develop a log for science fiction reading by reading the Martian series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Another book that shifted my feelings about war was reading Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
2. One book that you’ve read more than once:
Most of Plato’s books. Kurt Vonnegut’s books.
3. One book you’d want on a desert island:
I agree with The Imitation of Christ by Thomas a’Kempis,
4. One book that made you laugh:
Amen on All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot. Reading it again for the second time.
5. One book that made you cry:
As a kid…The Incredible Journey. I can’t remember who wrote it. Those 2 dogs and a cat traveling across country and all those adventures finally meeting up with the family. Starting to tear up just thinking about that old dog limping home coming last over the hill. Sniff.
6. One book you wish had been written:
I tried to top this one but if this one was written it sure would solve a lot of hard feelings so The Opinions and Views of Jesus on Instrumental Music and Patternism
7. One book you wish had never been written:
I understand why this one is listed here
Why I Am a Member of the Church of Christ by Leroy Brownlow.
But I might say Behold the Pattern by Goebel Music. Lots of nasty personal attacks and never gets around in the 600 plus pages to tell us what the pattern is.
