Anti-Semitism, like racism, is evil and it is a sin. Sadly “Christianity” has been plagued with this evil sin almost from the beginning. Most ideas have real world consequences. Anti-Semitism and racism have a long and extremely BLOODY history. It also results in serious flaws in Christian doctrinal underestanding.
Listen to me carefully beloved. Jesus was born a Jew. Jesus grew up as a Jew. Jesus lived and worshiped as a Jew. Jesus taught as a Jew. Jesus was crucified as King of the Jews. Jesus was raised from the dead as a Jew. Repeat those things over and over and over. Then repeat them again. Jesus is a Jew, not “was” but is.
We cannot be disciple of the King of Israel CANNOT be anti-Semitic. It is impossible. Nor can a disciple of the King of Israel support those who are anti-semitic.
In American history anti-Semitism and racism are linked together. They are inseparable. White “Christian” Nationalists have always been and always will be anti-semitic and anti-black racists. The Ku Klux Klan is anti-Jewish, it is anti-black. The Nazis in Germany were “Christian” Nationalists my friends. They are antisemitic and anti-black.
When an extreme segment of a political party will take advantage of a person who clearly is not mentally well and provide a platform for him to rant any actual disciple of the King of Israel will immediately condemn it and have nothing to do with. Further they will condemn those who will platform such a person. We have been here before and it is time to wake up and smell the coffee. If you political allegiances are driving your theology rather than your theology driving your political allegiances then we have moved from faith to idolatry.
It is time to say without any equivocation beloved. The Christian God is the GOD OF ISRAEL. We cannot even make the Christian confession without a connection to Israel: I believe that Jesus is the Messiah … aka King of the Jews and Lord of the Nations.
This does not make one a blind supporter of the modern State of Israel, that is another discussion for another day. But Christians cannot be biblical Christians and be either anti-semitic or racists.
Those pushing the “Christian” Nationalism narrative and the anti-semitic garbage coming from Kanye West have not only repudiated biblical faith but have repudiated the Constitution of the United States.
I say it again. The Christian God is the God of Israel and if that is not your God then you have a pagan one.
“I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob” (Matthew 22.32; cf. Mk 12.26; Lk 20.37).
The New Testament proclaims the message of the God of the Hebrew Bible. It is to summarize:
Same God.
Same Promise.
Same Mission.
Same People Renewed.
