On Top of Mt Lemmon

It looks like someone did not make the curve. This is a van that is WAY down in the gorge. Zoomed in with my camera. Not sure how long that van has been there but it looks like a long time.

The Road along the Mountain side.

Hey, there are trees in Arizona!! You just have to go nearly 10,000 feet up to find them, 🙂

What Tucson looks like from the very top of Mt Lemmon. The little white specks are houses. The brown strip is the air force base that covers several miles … looks small from here. The trees are bare because of the fire a couple years ago on Mt Lemmon.

    Bobby,
I’m glad you posted these pictures. It is good to see what things look like in your part of the world. Hope that you are getting settled in.

How beautiful! I wonder if one of the Griswalds were driving the van 🙂

Man! So that’s where I left the van ….

The details about that night are kind of hazy. It was the 70s, after all.

I have to beg to differ with Keith – I believe that van is the old church van we used to have that the kids referred to as “Old Crusty.” Glad to see Old Crusty is living the good live in Arizona.

You see lots of old vans looking exactly like that one parked in yards around here in front of trailers and old houses. Guess some things you can’t get away from.

Great pictures of Mt. Lemmon. It’s a neat place that’s so close to Tucson. I’m glad y’all got to go up there.

Great shots…I had planned to get out there before Bruce left. He spoke so highly of all of you and was missing you all already.

He arrived in Italy early, early this morning.

Visited Tucson several years ago and saw Mt. Lemmon standing watch over the city and “had a hankering” to go up. Was unable to do so, but enjoyed your pictures!

  8. Danny Says:

Hey did you see cousin Eddie out there anywhere? lol

Thanks for sharing the pics. Beautiful.

The picture of the van reminded me of the time I was stationed at Nellis AFB out of Las Vegas, Nevada. I am sure the city is right up against it now..that was 36 years ago. My buddy and I would often head out into the desert to see what we could see and it was not that unusual to find abandoned vehicles in the canyons. Out of the half dozen or so we ran across only one still had a driver. He didn’t fare that well what with the heat and the creatures of the desert…I know…eeeeeewwwwwwww

Great pics! Looks beautiful! I hope y’all are enjoying the summer time and hope your work there with the church is going good too. Blessings!

    Bobby,
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing God’s creation with us all.

The van is from a man who had committed suicide.
I believe its been there for more then 10 years.
He was ejected about 250 in the air before the van hit the bottom 400 feet down.
Police department left the van there because it was to much of a risk trying to get it out.
He left behind a wife and kids.
